Why No Coaching Session Is Ever The Same

One of the things I love most about being a coach and wellness consultant. Is that no session as ever the same.

There's no script.

There's no fixed plan.

No formula that could possibly fit every person or every season of life

How could there be?

The person who walks in the door – or shows up on the screen – may have experienced something life-changing, or at very least mine altering, since the last time we met.

Life doesn't pause neatly between sessions, and meaningful coaching can't pretend that it does.

Early in my work, I believed preparation meant having a clear plan for where a session should go. Overtime, experience taught me otherwise. The most meaningful moments in coaching happen when I pay close attention – not to assumptions or predictions, but to what is actually unfolding in front of me.

That means listening deeply. Not just words, but to energy, emotions, body language, and what may not yet fully be articulated.

Whether the work is physical, emotional, or a blend of both, effective coaching requires presence. It requires responding to the person as they are now, not to who I thought they would be when the session began.

There is a certain mystery in that – not knowing exactly what will surface, but trusting the process enough to stay curious, grounded and open.

That element of not knowing is not a weakness in coaching: it's one of the greatest strengths. It creates space for insight, clarity, and real change to emerge naturally.

This approach allows each session to be shaped by what matters most in the moment. Sometimes the work is subtle. Sometimes it's profound. Often it's both. And always, it's personal.

Coaching, at its best, isn't about following a plan. It's about meeting someone exactly where they are and helping them explore. What's possible from there.

If you're navigating change, transition, or reinvention, and are curious about a more personalized approach to life, coaching or wellness consulting, you're welcome to explore more about my work on this site.
